OFFICERS JESSE SILVA AND JOE LOPEZ SHOT ON DUTY

On Thursday December 8th, 2011, Santa Maria P.D.Narcotic Detective / NLPOA Santa Barbara County chapter president (Alfredo Ruiz) and his team members were involved in an Officer Involved Shooting during their attempts to arrest a known and dangerous narcotic trafficker.  During this incident, Santa Maria Detective / NLPOA member Joe Lopez was shot in the leg. In addition, Officer Jesse Silva was shot in the hand.  The suspect's attack on the officers eventually came to an end when he was shot and mortally wounded at the scene.  Both of the officers that were shot are doing well and are recuperating at home.  Please keep all the officers who were involved in the incident in your prayers. Thank you Detectives Ruiz, Lopez and Silva as well as all the other detectives that were involved in this incident for keeping our communities safe. Your heroic efforts are greatly appreciated.

4 FLAT SCREEN TV's  &

X-BOX SETS PURCHASED

FOR THE

CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF LOS ANGELES!

We Treat Kids Better

NEWS FLASH!

The chapter has purchased a total of 4 flat screen T.V sets and 4 X-Box game sets which will be delivered to the hospital this coming week. Albert Garcia will then assemble them on mobile carts so that they can be transferred from room to room for the kids desiring to play. We were fortunate enough to locate a wholesale electronics company through the Los Angeles City Attorney's office and were able to purchase all 4 sets (TV's and game sets) for just over $ 2,200.00, which is just about $ 500.00 more than we were going to spend for 1 set.  We will placing a custom made plaque inscribed with the NLPOA logo and a personal message to the kids.   If you have any ideas or suggestions on what we should inscribe, please let me know.

We have received a great amount of support for this project and those that are still wishing to donate please go to our website at www.nlpoanorthla.org Those that have already donated please know that your support is really appreciated by many at Children's Hospital.

I will let everyone know when the unveiling will take place with plenty of time in advance so you can join us. On behalf of the board of directors, thanks again for the support on such a worthwhile and humbling project.

Kind regards,

 Oscar Mejia
